Frequently AskedQuestions

Answers to common questions about CineNow’s financing model, before you submit your project.

Submit a Project

CineNow finances India-specific commercial feature films across genres and languages (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Hindi), as well as short-cycle bridge financing opportunities across the film industry on a LIFO basis. CineNow can provide up to 100% financing, from script through production and distribution.

No. Projects can be submitted before talent, director or key Heads of Department are confirmed.

No. CineNow charges no interest and takes no equity in the producer’s operating business. Its economic participation is at the project level through recoupment of invested capital and an agreed share of net profits.

CineNow has first recoupment rights over 100% of its invested capital. Following full recoupment of CineNow’s principal, net profits are shared 60% to CineNow and 40% to the producer.

The producer retains ownership of the project IP. CineNow holds a lien/security over the project IP until CineNow has both fully recouped its invested principal and received its 60% net profit entitlement.

CineNow works on a cost-plus model, rather than a lock-stock-and-barrel structure. This provides maximum transparency and visibility into production costs and the deployment of capital throughout the production process.

A digital NDA is executed as part of the online submission process, providing confidentiality protection for the script and related project materials submitted to CineNow.

Once the script and project are contractually bound, creative control remains with the producer. CineNow’s oversight is focused on financing, governance, production controls and protection of its investment rather than day-to-day creative decision-making.

Financed productions operate within CineNow’s control framework, including a production auditor, internal audit, insurance, completion bond requirements, banking controls and oversight of financing and production activities. The producer remains responsible for executing and delivering the film.

CineNow operates on a theatre-first monetisation strategy. Monetisation across domestic and international theatrical, satellite, digital/OTT, music and ancillary rights follows the plan mutually agreed at contract execution. Where a transaction affects CineNow’s security, recoupment or profit entitlement, the producer requires CineNow’s NOC.

Only in accordance with the agreed monetisation plan and CineNow’s NOC requirements. This ensures that individual rights transactions do not conflict with the project’s overall monetisation strategy or CineNow’s recoupment position.

Yes. CineNow’s production governance framework includes appropriate insurance and completion bond requirements, alongside production and financial auditing.

Yes. The producer is required to establish the appropriate UAE structure under Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). CineNow financing is deployed within the UAE framework.

These upfront costs are borne by the producer, including the UAE entity setup, legal review and other pre-contract expenses. This is the producer’s only upfront financial commitment or “skin in the game” and demonstrates their commitment to progressing the project and building a financing relationship with CineNow. Such costs may only be incurred subject to project approvals by CineNow’s Investment Committee.

CineNow is designed as scale capital, not simply one-off film financing. Producers should approach CineNow with a long-term slate mindset and the potential to finance multiple projects across the fund’s six-year lifecycle.

Tokenisation is not relevant to the producer’s financing relationship with CineNow. Producers engage with CineNow through the agreed project financing, recoupment and profit-sharing structure.
